What MaineWhisper collects, why, and how to get it removed.

If you join the list

We keep the email address, town and choices you give us, the date, and where you signed up (the website, a flyer or the print sheet). We use them only to tell you about the things you asked for. We do not sell, rent or share the list. Nothing is emailed to you until those services open. To be taken off the list, use the form on the Removals page.

Visiting the site

We may count page views with Google Analytics, which does not store full IP addresses. It does not run for visitors whose browsers send "Do Not Track" or Global Privacy Control. We set no advertising cookies. Your light or dark theme choice is kept in your own browser.

Scanner calls

The scanner page shows public police, fire and EMS radio traffic, transcribed and mapped by software, with an automatic pass that removes some personal details. It is unverified and can be wrong. If a call names you or shows your home, medical or family details, you can ask us to take it down: see Removals.

Forms

When you send a form we keep a scrambled code made from your internet address (not the address itself), only to stop automated spam.
