[2:13] Jennifer Snow: All right, good morning, happy October, yay. Okay, it's probably going to be the start of this meeting just like a couple of the other things also. Meeting minutes, anybody have any? [2:32] Speaker B (unidentified): And unpack it. [2:46] Speaker C (unidentified): Oh, I'll take it, I'll just draw one if we've got it. [2:58] Speaker D (unidentified): There we go, I found it. Okay, all right. [3:04] Jennifer Snow: Does anybody have any questions on the meeting that starts in September? [3:12] Speaker E (unidentified): Okay, can I get a remote? Great. [3:22] Jennifer Snow: Thank you. We need to approve the May meeting minutes as well. Yeah, we're trying [3:30] Speaker F (unidentified): to do some of the ones that haven't been in the past, so. Thank you. I just, that's a [3:36] Jennifer Snow: point I've done that for my paperback. All right, does anybody have questions about the May meeting minutes? Remember me? Cool. [3:49] Speaker D (unidentified): What's the door unlock? Oh. [3:56] Jennifer Snow: Any questions on the meeting? Cool. Emotions, is that the second? Sorry, second. Great, all in favor? All right, good job, Maria, perfect. Hi, [4:22] Speaker F (unidentified): Maria, hi. [4:30] Speaker G (unidentified): Maria, hi, great. [4:35] Jennifer Snow: Let's keep going, I don't think I have anything for report and I want to make sure we have time for all the Artober stuff, so let's move right on through to the financial report. Does anybody have questions about that? It still is the bigger listing from the budget, I'm assuming that means it's just not in our account, but everything's approved along here if you really have any questions. Okay. [5:19] Speaker C (unidentified): Don't do that. Let's see, go ahead, Grant Committee. Yes, so we have received, I think, five grants. Correct. Did you receive one from the Bangor Symphony Orchestra? Yes. Perfect, I think that's the only one I don't have because I think she emailed it. So if I can get that one, so our plan is going to be to set up a meeting here in the next probably two to three weeks for the grants committee to go through the grants, we will then have them ready to present to at our November meeting so that we can present the 13th to the budget and then the 23rd to the city council of November. [6:06] Jennifer Snow: Do we now need to do that or is that still a, you are taking it once it comes out of [6:11] Speaker E (unidentified): the commission? Yeah, Kaylee and I worked on getting it onto committee and onto council. [6:17] Speaker C (unidentified): I appreciated, Kaylee sent me all of the dates for the upcoming meeting so that I could like work backward. Yeah, so that was incredibly helpful, thank you so much for that, and I have all of the grants as well, so yeah. All right, people on deadline. [6:34] Speaker G (unidentified): Just a question, so the PTC folks asked me if you'd receive theirs because it came only by email. Yes, we did. Okay, it wasn't clear whether they'd do a paper copy. [6:44] Jennifer Snow: Oh, no, can we confirm receipt when people send it in? [6:48] Speaker F (unidentified): I haven't been because a lot of times they come to the cultural commission or to Sarah and they'll send it forward to me. Yeah, we can do that. [6:54] Jennifer Snow: I think that would be good. [6:55] Speaker C (unidentified): Especially with the, because we're allowing them to only submit digitally now, it probably would be helpful for them to know that we've received it. [7:05] Speaker D (unidentified): Okay, cool. Have we decided how much we're allotting for each? [7:11] Speaker C (unidentified): We did. We decided to double both. So the organization grants are up to $10,000 and the individual grants are up to $2,000. [7:22] Jennifer Snow: That's what they can apply for? Yes. [7:24] Speaker C (unidentified): They did not, all five of them applied for, they were all organization grants. They did not all apply for $10,000. I think there was one that applied for less, or two that applied for a smaller amount. Yeah. [7:42] Jennifer Snow: Any more questions on grants? I think as usual, the Grants Committee will take a look, we'll vet, and then we'll make a recommendation to the full commission. [7:54] Speaker C (unidentified): Yes. I didn't know that was going to happen. I didn't know about the meeting. Do we have a meeting time set up for that? We don't yet because my brain was thinking a month ahead of time and I started to panic but like we just got them in yesterday and how could we possibly discuss them today? But no, so I will send out a doodle poll to the group and we'll get something set up in the next two to three weeks so that we can be ready for November, yeah. [8:22] Jennifer Snow: Yeah all right other questions on grants cool cultural committee [8:37] Speaker D (unidentified): We're at a little bit of a standstill and I could use some help figuring out how to jumpstart things [8:46] Jennifer Snow: All right. Great. I think my first question, has the RFP been posted? [8:53] Speaker E (unidentified): I didn't get a chance to check this morning. They were hoping to get it up this week. So, yeah, I mean, we have very low staff in my hands right now. They're down, I think they're still down 3.0. Yeah. Yeah. So, but a lot of this culture asset work is going to get folded into that project. Yeah. [9:15] Jennifer Snow: Exactly. Yeah. So there's not much the committee can do until the city hires the person. [9:22] Speaker D (unidentified): I hate to double-do things, you know, there's already overlapping with what's up there. Yeah. Right. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Which is fine. and [9:36] Jennifer Snow: We can all take a look at the city website, RFPs are posted publicly, and so then we'll know what the due date is, and then we can extrapolate a likely start date. But my guess is at this point still it's going to be sometime January that this person starts with this work. And then we will need to form a committee, and we'll need to invite a few other local organization members to join our ad hoc strategic plan committee to review the work that this person does. Right. Yeah. Is there anything and that the cultural asset committee or this commission needs to do before the city hires someone? I don't think so. I think the other thing that technically under the Cultural Asset Committee Purview is the panels and how we want to display, but I think there's still a question about whether they're waterproof or not, and therefore what we might want to put in there. You don't want to put original artwork in there if there's any chance that they're not waterproof. Yeah, so Sundance [11:15] Speaker F (unidentified): and I today are going to go get some of the Arctober pliers, and since those are like low stakes if they get damaged, I think that's a perfect pilot to see. Yeah, check on it after it rains and how they held up. Yeah, that's right. Yeah, there's one that's been unlocked [11:29] Speaker G (unidentified): them most of the time, which I guess doesn't matter, but I've been curious and looked at it. My strong suspicion is that you wouldn't want original art in there, just don't feel like it's weatherproof. It's going to take the humanity over time, but we'll find out, to your point. [11:48] Jennifer Snow: Maybe one thing we can do, once we have more evidence, is also see where the bids come in for the RFP and if there's potentially any budget for making prints or laminating prints of work to put in those and we could see if I think or give us a discount. I was just going [12:16] Speaker D (unidentified): to mention I've already had two people ask me what's going to happen with those although all right there's some interest in well that's good. Yeah, I thought that's that's great. I mean I do [12:27] Jennifer Snow: want to put pretty things in there so yeah if you have a budget to make some prints you know in [12:33] Speaker D (unidentified): terms of student art teachers can scan things and make prints. Yeah, it just is some extra steps. Yeah [12:42] Jennifer Snow: and the city still has the printer the in-house printing office right because that always was also more affordable because it's not there's not a sales price so right that could also be a good option for us making price and i guess then right if they're prints also they don't have to be one but we can probably do it in a pretty cost effective way. Cool. I mean we'll get more interest [13:18] Speaker D (unidentified): to people can submit digitally also. Yeah, but then somebody has to take it and get it turned out [13:29] Jennifer Snow: Yes, and we will just need Kaylee's help for that because Kaylee has a key. And so right, we can talk about how frequently we might want to exchange them, but I don't think more than once a month is something any of us could commit to. So maybe we do like quarterly workstays as well. All right, has everyone been by to see [13:56] Speaker G (unidentified): them by any chance? I mean, the amount of like surface area you have to cover, like you can get a lot of art. So that in some ways might even take a chat. [14:09] Jennifer Snow: Yeah, I mean it could be multiple people for sure. [14:13] Speaker G (unidentified): It's a good, it's a good problem to have. Yeah, you build a lot of art. [14:18] Speaker D (unidentified): So at the library, when we're collecting work for exhibits, we have people apply with art. But we might set up a system whereby those who are interested in displaying things get in touch with some key person in order to facilitate. [14:40] Jennifer Snow: I think we could probably set up a Google form for the submissions. [14:45] Speaker D (unidentified): And we can even put a copy of that in the panel so that people can see it. [14:52] Speaker F (unidentified): Like a QR code in the kiosk that says, do you want your art here? [14:57] Speaker D (unidentified): Yeah, maybe. Or a little English, too. Yeah, okay. Not everybody. [15:04] Speaker B (unidentified): For us old folks. [15:06] Speaker D (unidentified): Not everybody wants to do the QR code. [15:09] Jennifer Snow: Yeah. And right, we can put an email address too if someone needs support in filling out a form. [15:17] Speaker D (unidentified): Yeah. Okay. That sounds real. That does sound real. Okay. [15:25] Jennifer Snow: Let's start collecting the information we would want to put on a form. Maybe I can just start a draft of a form and I'll send it around. [15:38] Speaker D (unidentified): Do you have a library? [15:41] Speaker G (unidentified): That's a great idea. [15:42] Speaker D (unidentified): I'm just using this as a starting point. [15:46] Jennifer Snow: Absolutely. That's not stealing. That's taking inspiration. Perfect. [15:53] Speaker D (unidentified): That's a great idea. And that's on the library website. [16:00] Jennifer Snow: I filled it out last year. Yeah, that's great. And then we can start a draft of ours. We'll send it around. People prefer to take a look at it maybe we publish it in the next month and see if we get submissions and we say the first might be the first display might be Q1 of 2027. Okay, that gives us time to figure out a system for selecting and printing, right? If we print in-house and it's not like it's 50 pages, it's going to be a few, it's not going to be enough, it's not, we just don't take that out, it's an opposite, yes, okay, awesome, cool, any other cultural asset or art panel questions? [16:58] Speaker G (unidentified): All right, fantastic, so thanks to a really hard-working committee, and Kelly, Cal, Ben, Sarah, and anyone else who participated, but they were probably the only people with perfect attendance at the meeting, so I'll highlight their commitment to it. I think we're really in good shape if we start with maybe the award and the award event, and then we can talk about how it's being promoted. So the jury met last week, this week? [17:28] Jennifer Snow: This week. Just a reminder one more time, because this is public, to not say who they picked for a comment. [17:34] Speaker G (unidentified): Yeah, you can't take that back once it's happened. So I'd say that the jury was able to come to a unanimous decision about what to do. I felt very strongly that we had a really deep pool. Everyone was worthy of an award, but in the end highlighted one person. So with that in mind, the jury had asked, and I'm happy to do this as long as everyone else is happy to do it, that we take even more time to highlight, maybe individually recognize each of the nominees. I can't tell you the exact number of nominees, it was not the 38 we had last year, it was probably 15, give or take. So again, a strong pool, but easier to recognize 15 people and not lose the attention of an audience and then say, well, please give me the next 30 minutes to talk about 38 people. So we'll take some time to highlight them early in the event. So the event is at the stage door, which is part of the, you know, attached to the Bangor Opera House, Penobscot Theatre Company. I think most everybody knows what that is. That's next Thursday, eight o'clock. I think I've given conflicting dates along, not eight o'clock, next Thursday, pardon me, Thursday October 8th 5 to 7. But I think I've been time said it was Wednesday maybe at this meeting so please know it is Thursday and so before that event most of you can make it if you can it's a great time last year celebrating the arts of Angola all companies [19:30] Speaker F (unidentified): We can hear you guys, I don't know if, hello? [19:40] Speaker G (unidentified): Awarded nicer than that, but listening to early guys, so. Respond that they weren't going to be able to all follow up with everybody but, you know, with, you know, ballpark 15 nominees, it'll be easy to kind of reach out individually. If there's a desire to reach out to the nominees too, I can do that. I'm not sure we have emails for all of them, but we will request that in the nomination. [20:10] Jennifer Snow: The last few years we also printed a networking sheet with all the nominees' names and websites or Facebook, whatever they shared, and a little sentence about them. Do you want that file? [20:23] Speaker G (unidentified): do you want to do that again that'd be great we will do that again along with a map of some cultural assets a certificate for each of them which we did last year I don't know if we did that in previous years also Kelly's bringing flowers I can't remember if there's much else to know about the event it'll be great though it's the products oh yeah oh yes do you want that'd be great so that's the one pumpkin that i was talking about [20:58] Speaker D (unidentified): There's some articles on the BBM just the other day about glass pumpkins. Really? [21:07] Speaker G (unidentified): Well, we've got to raise some photos, so this is, yeah, and so let's hang on. It's. [21:12] Speaker E (unidentified): It's got the embroidery on it, and everybody feels comfortable holding it in their hand. [21:21] Speaker G (unidentified): You hold it in your hand. It says ARC 2 over 2026. I think the colors are amazing. [21:27] Speaker C (unidentified): Yeah, cool. [21:30] Speaker B (unidentified): I love this one too, the canoe. That's so cool. [21:34] Speaker E (unidentified): That's great. That was such a good idea. Right. [21:38] Speaker G (unidentified): Right below. What's mainly down in the studio. All right. [21:46] Jennifer Snow: But we can also then, when we give that, say where it came from, so then that's the local. [21:51] Speaker D (unidentified): Artist. Sure. Join in some of the cost. Yep. [21:55] Speaker G (unidentified): Yep. Like, they would've charged more, essentially. Yep. Cool. And so Thursday's not a good day for you. [22:02] Jennifer Snow: So Thursday is also the library opening. Oh, yeah. The library always does first Thursday, and I curated one of the shows, so I have to be there from 6 to 7. I don't have to be there much earlier than that, so I can be there for the first 45 minutes of the Arts Award, but I won't be there probably for the actual announcements. [22:28] Speaker B (unidentified): Unless you start kind of early. [22:30] Speaker C (unidentified): When during the 5 to 7 are you planning to do the presentation? [22:34] Speaker G (unidentified): You know, open to suggestion. I think if we're going to take time, then you recognize all the nominees, that's probably like 5.30, and then give people a chance to mingle for a bit, and then maybe 6.15, 6.30, do the, you know, make the award. [22:48] Jennifer Snow: Yeah, I like, I think this is one thing we did last year is we recognized all the nominees earlier on in the evening and then waited and did the announcement of the winner a little bit later, and that helped people stick around and mingle more, so I like that idea. Yeah, so let me know. We can talk offline if you want to. [23:15] Speaker G (unidentified): The, you know, have a moment to acknowledge some things. Sure. Mission chair, I think that would be. [23:22] Jennifer Snow: Great, yeah, and if we start that at 5:30, then I can say a few words. Okay, awesome, cool, yeah. [23:31] Speaker G (unidentified): All right, I think we have the event covered. Any other questions though? So, you know, I'd like to get an invitation out to the city folk too, so I can connect with you guys later to get that done. [23:46] Jennifer Snow: I kind of think maybe I also will send an email. We have a list of previous nominees and I'll cross-check it to current ones, but maybe invite people who've been to this event in the past. Sure. We can always do a blanket if you were a nominee in a previous year or something. Yeah. [24:08] Speaker G (unidentified): Okay. Fantastic. So, you know, in terms of promoting our materials to promote, so special thanks to Ann for keeping us moving on, and to Ben, keeping us moving on the new pole banners. They look great. I'm sure you've seen them. [24:23] Speaker E (unidentified): Great job organizing them. [24:26] Speaker G (unidentified): Yeah. Yeah, they're fantastic, you know, in part because that happened late in the process, which is great. We kind of had to rebrand all of our materials, so don't, you know, don't be too harsh on me. We used AI to do some of that. I know it's very controversial in the world of heart to do that. I guess I'd say in my defense, well, so I mean, to be practical, in our last meeting as a subcommittee, it was clear that no one had the time or expertise. Maybe someone had expertise but not time, maybe something at time, no expertise, so we just wouldn't have had any materials, just we wouldn't have. So spend some time, did use AI, but use the color palette, use the fonts that were created by an artist on this committee to try to create some things in the future. If we decide we're gonna have a no AI policy, certainly can live with that. If we have that discussion, I'd say, maybe questionable whether Sparky and things can come from there, but that's a discussion probably for another day. And an important one, so I'll pass out some of what we have, all of what we have, just grab one and send it around. Yes, I'm going in the other direction, yeah, [25:38] Speaker D (unidentified): Yeah, I don't need to make light of it's very [25:42] Jennifer Snow: The city has an AI policy conversation, and yeah, we don't, yeah, okay, and then also just kind of what our commission thinks overall, somebody should have a chance to voice opinions. [25:54] Speaker G (unidentified): Yes, somebody's probably gonna be short because I counted before. So, oh, awesome. So listen, somebody's going to be short stuff then because I think I passed around seven or eight and much more than that once they all go around. We'll see. So does anybody need something that looks like a map? I know that maybe it just ran out on me as well. Okay. All right. Well, we'll go on orders. Anybody shy something with a staple? Yes. No staple. Anybody shy something with a staple? [Speaker E (unidentified): Oh, I am.] I have more on here. All right. Then there's two that look very similar. Anybody shy one that just is an announcement? Announcement, October, Baylor's month of the arts. There's one more that looks almost exactly like that announcing the stage door of events. All right. So nonetheless, I mean, some fairly nice graphics. I don't know what it is about AI, by the way. This is an aside. You can always tell it's AI. High right like I, you know, trying to use my problem like don't make this look like and maybe he did a good job but maybe it's the depth of the colors. Either way, I mean, pretty sharp things that we are using and they're certainly better than using nothing in my opinion. Yeah, I love the thought. Yeah, and then again that was chosen by ultimately by Ben but that was my objective for it. I don't remember the name of it, but they were specific features and bridge art characters. And then the color palette was shared with the city. So, you know, we can move forward next year. So I don't know how much time we need to spend on these things, but I'd say a lot of the prompting for this piece that just announces things was not only that we need to post things on our own, you know, city and our own social media, but the downtown Bangor partnership has been posting things too. Part of, you know, they have some grant money to do some promotions that are more citywide also. So like their events calendar is not just the downtown Bangor district of the whole city and so they're looking to do more of that with us for our October. Again, it's a capacity issue. I don't know that we have anybody that's in position to, you know, reach out try to collect every event that's happening along with graphic content and then get that to Betsy. So who knows, maybe there's opportunity for that. In the future we're doing as much as we can, but you know that's a full-time job, you know, it is for a month anyway, trying to collect everything, which was, you know, evident to me when I, you know, try to pull together a guide that, you know, just source all the publicly available information about events that are happening, so, you know, you'd see on the stapled document because they at the bottom, this is a public source snapshot shot, you know, from about a week ago, so if we choose to use this for anything, I don't know what we use it for other than maybe a handout at the event, you know, somebody were to say, you know, why am I not on here, you could say, well, we sourced the weekly public available websites and best efforts kind of thing, but amazing how many things are, I suppose, is the point that I was getting at, I mean, that's just what we could pull off the internet from a variety of sites, different arts and culture events going on in the city this month, so I think that'll be helpful for us to use to remind people just how much is actually going on in Bangor. Even, I don't know about all of you, but I always find it surprising, you know, the depth of artistic talent events we have in the city. [29:49] Jennifer Snow: I would love to hand this out at the event. I also wonder if we can print some extras to give. Anne, are you going to the sidewalk art festival tomorrow? Are you tabling? No, I'll do this. I have a wedding this weekend that it would be a nice thing to have. Yeah, I don't mind making some and [30:19] Speaker G (unidentified): trying to get them to, I live in Boston one morning too, in the future years maybe we can, you know, target as a subcommittee having a table that aren't also got lucky having and [30:30] Jennifer Snow: go the last few years, this is great, we used to try to do this, but because people weren't amusing and if they don't have their partnership didn't have an active calendar yet and Spangler Sevens didn't exist yet, people weren't hosting their events as much, we had to go out and email each organization to ask what they have scheduled for October and it was difficult because we didn't get nearly as much [30:56] Speaker G (unidentified): information, so this was awesome. Yeah, so I'll get a bunch of these to the Chamber of Commerce because they do have walk-in traffic, a lot of tourists come in. Yeah, find out what's going on. Great, get the arts and culture map out too. Everyone okay with that? Yep, I [31:14] Speaker B (unidentified): Did fantastic highlights. I was thinking about what, you know what you said about the Sevens calendar and us working at downtown to make our production they don't grant them to do their version of their [31:28] Jennifer Snow: online calendar at one point. So the last five years, because I think maybe three years ago we printed dates and then the Sidewalk Art Festival was postponed because of a storm, so immediately after we printed them they were all completely out of date. And so instead the last couple of years we printed a map and we printed the links to Dunn Town Partnership Calendar and Bangor Sevens on the map and then posted it also on our page on the website. I think definitely still do that even if we have a map that just let's yeah, I mean this links to our page and so from our page we can link to those event calendars. That's easier than like a PDF file of this I think for people to download. I wouldn't post this on our website. But hopefully we're handing it out to people that have it as well. [32:21] Speaker B (unidentified): And in the future, like working together with Downtown Partnership, we already have, you know, different versions of event calendars. You have the Downtown, you have Sevens, and we can pull all that together in one spot. You know, that may be a starting point for us going forward. Absolutely. [32:38] Jennifer Snow: Yeah, because they also have different, I mean, Downtown only covers the actual downtown area. [32:43] Speaker B (unidentified): And so Sevens is a little broader and then they go out as far as you know, or an unholy area and stuff. Yeah. Yeah [32:50] Speaker D (unidentified): So this is what we have [32:53] Speaker G (unidentified): Related to the kiosk. I sent out an email to like 40 some odd organizations asking for content. Delivered to my office a few did, quite a few more sending things. I can print which is which is okay, too. So hey, thank you, by the way, for responding to my email yesterday with the answers. I don't think I replied to you thank you and so what we're gonna find time to get over and load a bunch of this in there. However if anybody has access to more posters announcing events and things not just today but like in the next week and a half, you know, please figure out how to get them to me, we'll get them in the kiosk. I think that's it [33:34] Speaker D (unidentified): I'm really impressed how professional these all look like so much that they're used by my color and down style. Yeah do they match our new band? Well that was that was the challenge [33:50] Speaker G (unidentified): Right we got the banners at the last minute so then it's up so and then just somewhere up this The last question I have that's related though, I think we're still chasing down credentials to get into our Facebook page, that maybe are owned by someone who was on the commission in the past, Julia, I don't remember the last name, does that ring a bell if anybody's been around a while? [34:26] Jennifer Snow: I can follow up with Holly and ask her to send a message to that person who owns it. [34:33] Speaker G (unidentified): Oh, I'm happy to find a book. And we can try. [34:37] Jennifer Snow: But we do have access to the Instagram account that Holly made called Bangor Arts and Culture. I'm just not great at posting things regularly. But if anybody is very interested in social media and excited about posting about art things on Instagram, yeah, let me know, you don't have to commit today. But I would love a little bit of work in that regard. Holly was great at like, highlighting random things that would come up around town. And I'd love to pick that back up as a commission project and maybe if it's one or two people we can just split it up and but I can share a lot if anybody's interested let me know maybe by the next meeting or after the meeting we can share a lot [35:36] Speaker C (unidentified): It might be nice if we had somebody who I was just looking at the And since the October presentation on Thursday will hopefully be heavily attended, things like that might be good if somebody, I'd be happy to take some pictures and post on there while we're going. So if you wanted to send me blog information for that, I will. Yeah, perfect. [36:04] Jennifer Snow: I think we should also probably because we don't have to align the brand like the profile image with the new parts [36:12] Speaker C (unidentified): Over but we certainly could I think actually that might be really nice yeah leading up to Thursday so if you could send me the square version I should do something right now actually okay [36:28] Speaker E (unidentified): Or we send it to the group. We can also encourage grantees to tag the person coaching on their event that they got that score. [36:40] Speaker C (unidentified): That's a great way for us to not have to. Right. That's true. [36:47] Speaker E (unidentified): Absolutely. I love that. Yeah. Having all these organizations tag it. Yeah. [36:52] Speaker D (unidentified): I'm assuming it's okay to scan this and send it out. [36:57] Speaker G (unidentified): Oh sure. I'll send everybody the pdfs of you know yeah and then it'll look a little clearer [37:03] Speaker B (unidentified): Thanks. Yeah, anything that I see online from the Facebook, I've been sharing to like the Vanguard area groups and stuff. So because I don't have a lot of, you know, friends and followers from all over the country, but I mean as far as these Vanguard groups have went, 17,000 people on them. So I just keep posting them and hoping they approve them, and they have so far. So [37:25] Speaker E (unidentified): So, I'll keep giving that. [37:30] Jennifer Snow: Yeah. And right, if you can make it to the Arts of Wisdom version and bring friends, that would be great too. Okay. Any other, still have time, no rush, any other Artober questions, ideas, things to discuss about what's coming up in the next month? [37:53] Speaker G (unidentified): Do we have any media contacts that might put it on, you know, come from the news or anything like that? Could have some fun city things on the nipples been on WABI with but [38:06] Speaker D (unidentified): I've been on WABI I would [38:07] Speaker G (unidentified): With the first Friday I heard more scenario yeah we don't have like a specific contact [38:12] Speaker E (unidentified): No I mean our public information staff he can you know send a press release to all about especially about the arts award it would be great to have one of the stations there [38:27] Jennifer Snow: I can also send an email and invite to Emily Barnum, maybe she'll write about it on her sub stack. And then does the BDM still have an arts and culture writer? We have tried to invite them in the past to the event and they haven't attended, but I But I think that doesn't mean we should not continue to try to thank them. [38:58] Speaker G (unidentified): I thought that was great, but not the case. [39:02] Speaker E (unidentified): And when the city sends out a press release, we send it to all of the stations and all of the industry. [39:09] Jennifer Snow: But I think maybe a direct invite. [39:12] Speaker G (unidentified): I'll find out if the paper has anything. [39:30] Jennifer Snow: Okay, any other questions about any of the committee stuff? Cool. Staff updates. [39:44] Speaker E (unidentified): That's it. We're hoping to get the RFP out as soon as possible. Hopefully it will go up today and Kayla's working on the getting these into the [39:56] Speaker F (unidentified): Market so yeah working along yeah and we went to the farmer's market a couple weekends ago so I scanned in the packets for some of the feedback we got there it was a little gloomy there wasn't a ton of people that day it's still nice to get some feedback so cool I was looking [40:17] Speaker B (unidentified): And over all that stuff and it seems to be the same kind of things coming up this is it's a you know smaller medium-sized concert venue arts like we used to have that they want to exchange with some type of facility like that folk festival there's a common theme with these things coming [40:32] Speaker E (unidentified): Back, so definitely something you want to look at in the future. It's amazing the number of people that want the folk festival to come back. I mean, even people, it was, I mean, it was amazing. [40:42] Speaker B (unidentified): Maybe not even at that large of a scale, but a smaller, you know, yeah, you start out small, those festivals with one stage as opposed to five stages, right, one stage, and you know, yeah, kind of get, I know this was through what the American Folk Festival was like, actually, yeah, but I mean, it could be something. Anyways, yeah, except that square graphic is a reply all. [41:13] Speaker G (unidentified): Once the RFP is posted, what's the window approximately for people to reply? [41:19] Speaker E (unidentified): I think they gave 30 days for people to reply. It's usually the minimum. [41:30] Jennifer Snow: And then we're not involved in the actual hiring of the person, are we? [41:34] Speaker E (unidentified): We, no, we're gonna have, I thought you wanted to say that, yeah, so yeah, that would be great. [41:43] Jennifer Snow: I mean, if anybody else is interested, probably shouldn't be too many people so we don't. [41:48] Speaker E (unidentified): Know, we don't want to have anything, they have to be a public meeting, but just, yeah, cool. [41:54] Speaker F (unidentified): Cool. Great. No, I'm excited. Yeah. [42:02] Jennifer Snow: Okay. Anything else. as we just talked about, there's less happening in town this month. I think you all have a first Friday slide that 's going to say, [42:20] Speaker G (unidentified): Can I back up on one question, really, in the time frame, so it's about a 30-day thing. Is this, so you mentioned an ad hoc committee, are we tasked with determining the makeup of that? Or will the city essentially say, no, the makeup's going to be eight people from a variety of places? [42:37] Speaker E (unidentified): No, I think we thought it was going to be the Cultural Asset Subcommittee, and then, but some things will be brought to the full commission. [42:45] Jennifer Snow: We had talked about inviting some other stakeholders, not as part of the interview process of hiring the person, but as part of the strategic planning process after that, reviewing the drafts and discussing the actual outcomes. [43:05] Speaker G (unidentified): So ultimately the question or what I'm thinking about is just the committee or the commission have some work to do to like figure out what that body, like the makeup of that body and what it is, it ad hoc, is it cultural, is that all fairly well vetted, because if not we'd have to figure [43:23] Speaker E (unidentified): That out over the next, what we could do is we could bring a recommendation to your next meeting and then for you to look at and edit and then it's easier to react to get something, so we can, we can pull together something for you to look at. [43:41] Speaker D (unidentified): That sounds good. So it would be kind of a job description or? [43:45] Speaker E (unidentified): It's just sort of like a stakeholder group. So it's sort of like, you know, you have the core group of the Culture Asset Committee kind of working with us and the consultant to do the project, but then at certain points you're going to want to bring in stakeholders, you know, both people in culture and arts for you know around the city but also you know consumers that they know people that live here that go to those things and [44:15] Speaker D (unidentified): what do they want so I'm just wondering how we connect with those people today [44:23] Speaker E (unidentified): apply how did they hear about it we would do outreach to that yeah that [44:28] Speaker D (unidentified): would be our role yeah [44:33] Speaker G (unidentified): yeah so there will be some time the city will [44:35] Speaker E (unidentified): come with maybe some parameters yeah because then that way like you might think of somebody that we hadn't thought of like oh don't forget this person everybody yeah for sure yeah [44:46] Jennifer Snow: and then the city got the outreach to see if they're interested and then we put together a meeting but there'll be time to do that yeah i mean right the rfp gets posted any day now the deadline is likely early november that means interviews will happen in november the city will probably select someone by early December and then contracting and all of that. I think the project start will be changed. And therefore you don't really need a [45:17] Speaker G (unidentified): steering committee established. Right, maybe another month or two. Yeah, and I'm afraid that we're going to have to make decisions right now, weeks from now. [45:29] Jennifer Snow: and obviously this is not just you as chair of the grants committee the cultural asset committee's task i think this is going to be a bit more of an all hands on deck kind of process overall but also i will make sure that i'm at all the cultural asset committee so not to be [45:49] Speaker G (unidentified): too vocal today but last question do we have any numbers coming up next year great question [45:56] Jennifer Snow: we have a few people who were asked to renew we have a couple i know one person is not renewing capacity i don't know we may not know until january oh okay i know i've heard [46:14] Speaker G (unidentified): Yeah, I applied for renewal and it was accepted and we can still pull this out to everybody. Yeah. [46:22] Jennifer Snow: And we also still, this is maybe another reminder we should send from the City of Regasel, there's still a commission member on the emails who hasn't been to a meeting since they joined. Okay. And if that's an open spot, I think we should let that be an open spot. Obviously, I don't want to kick anybody out, but the expectation is that you join the commission, that you also show up to meetings, within reason, of course. I think we adjusted the schedule to hopefully make it more possible for more people to come to at least every other meeting. But yeah, and if you still have concerns or conflicts, then we can always revisit the meeting schedule. Hopefully this is working a little better for people even though it's slightly complicated with the first Friday and then the first just one day, but we can visit in the new year, maybe in June. Exactly. Yep. All right. Cool. I hope you can all make it to the first Friday. [47:41] Speaker B (unidentified): I'll be at the Rock and Arch. [47:44] Jennifer Snow: There's also lots of other great things happening. You know, former city councillor Gretchen has quilts at Ocarola. [47:55] Speaker B (unidentified): Yeah, that's like stitching and like wrap, like stitching and stuff. It's really cool. [48:00] Jennifer Snow: I love that. It's really cool. Yeah. I had to- [48:03] Speaker E (unidentified): It's really interesting. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. [48:13] Jennifer Snow: Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Also tell me that the sidewalk arts possible tomorrow. All right, thank you guys, see you next.
